WHAT IS URBAN DANCE AND HIP HOP CHOREOGRAPHY?
Urban dance is an umbrella term for a variety of dance styles born and developed in city environments, primarily in African-American and Latino communities, and reflecting their culture and music. Some of the best known include hip-hop, breaking, locking, popping, and krumping, among others.
Hip hop, on the other hand, is a specific form of urban dance that focuses on creating sequences of choreographed movements to the rhythm of this type of music. Unlike improvisation and freestyle, choreographed hip hop requires a more structured planning of movements to create an artistic routine.
