It’s time to enjoy the last days of summer with the family! This Chill Jazz concert is part of the offerings at Teatro del Lago for children, youth and adults to live an unforgettable musical experience.

This show will feature the talent and artistic charisma of one of the most relevant jazz musicians on the Latin American scene, Federico Dannemann, who together with his trio (Milton Russel on bass and Carlos Cortés on drums), and with the special participation of the trans-Andean artist Andrés Beeuwsaert on piano, will ensure an unforgettable evening for the audience and lovers of improvisation and the creative and immersive power of jazz.

Federico Dannemann

Federico Dannemann (Buenos Aires, 1979) is an Argentine guitarist, composer, arranger and teacher based in Chile. He has managed to build a solid reputation as one of the leading voices in a very competitive and growing jazz scene in Chile. His early career began at the age of 10 in the roots of classic rock, blues and traditional jazz, but he has developed a particularly eclectic path, partnering with musicians from South American folk, pop and contemporary jazz. In the area of jazz, Federico is known as a creative and inspired improviser, mostly influenced by historical guitar greats such as Tal Farlow, Barney Kessel and Django.

After a successful tour in the UK in 2004, he was awarded a full scholarship for a postgraduate diploma at the Royal Academy of Music. In 2006 he was one of the finalists in the Gibson Guitar Competition at the Montreux Jazz Festival. Winner of the most prominent Chilean music award in 2006 (Altazor award), he has performed in the first class circuit of jazz festivals in South America: Buenos Aires Jazz Festival, La Paz Jazz Festival, Lapataia Jazz Fest and Providencia Jazz Fest.

He has also worked with pop and folk-fusion projects such as those of Francesca Ancarola, Pedropiedra and Pedro Aznar. He recorded several albums with them and toured for mass audiences in Mexico, New York, Peru, Uruguay, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Honduras and Costa Rica

During his career spanning over 20 years, he has performed with a wide range of international jazz artists such as Mark Elf, Eric Harland, Linley Marthe, Mike Murley, Valery Polomarev and Peter Erskine, as well as Latin American stars such as Chico Cesar, Mercedes Sosa and Shakira.

On this occasion, he will be performing with his main trio, Milton Russel on bass and Carlos Cortés on drums, with the special participation of Andrés Beeuwsaert on piano.

The quartet will perform a repertoire specially selected for the event. Apart from new versions and arrangements of jazz standards, the repertoire will include pieces from the Argentine and Brazilian repertoire, as well as original themes by Dannemann.

Andrés Beeuwsaert

‘I don’t feel like a jazz musician or a popular musician, I just feel like a curious, eclectic artist on the move. I listen to music from many different genres and places, and I don’t like to pigeonhole myself in a certain way. Improvisation is something I’ve been cultivating over the years, regardless of the projects I’ve done, and I sometimes like to give solo piano concerts in which I improvise from beginning to end’

Andrés Beeuwsaert in La Capital.

Andrés Beeuwsaert was born in Olavarría, province of Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1978.

He studied harmony and improvisation with Juan Pollo Raffo and composition at the Universidad Nacional de La Plata, graduating in 2001.

He has played and recorded with musicians of the local trans-Andean and international scene such as Fat’s Fernandez, Mono Fontana, Hugo Fattoruso and Joe Lovano, among others.

In 1999 he formed -together with Juan Quintero and Mariano Cantero- the trio Aca Seca, which is currently a reference in Argentine popular music (they have been recognised by the Konex Foundation as one of the 100 most outstanding figures in music over the last 10 years).

He was a member of Javier Malosetti’s trio between 2001 and 2005, with which he performed in numerous venues in the Argentine capital and the interior of the country, as well as at international festivals in Spain (2001) and France (2002).

Along with Malosetti, he also performed in the successful series Música para Soñar (broadcasted by Telefé), in which he accompanied renowned singers (Rubén Rada, Fabiana Cantilo, Raul Lavié, Diego Torres, Jairo, Litto Nebbia, Soledad, Víctor Heredia, Teresa Parodi, among others).

Since 2004, he has been a member of Pedro Aznar’s band, touring nationally and internationally in Chile, Brazil, Uruguay, Ecuador and Spain.

In 2005, Beeuwsaert received the Clarín Espectáculos award as a jazz revelation.

In 2007, he was invited by Pedro Aznar and David Lebón to perform in Argentina and South America.
